Daisy Delight and Touches of Texture
I’m always surprised at what comes from three little pieces of paper and scrap, and this card teamed Daisy Delight and Touches of Texture so sweetly!
I’m not usually one to buy Designer Series Paper, but this package was so beautifl, both sides of everything, that I bought two packages just so I could make oodles of cards this way. I finally have enough paper that I can dedicate a 4″ x 5-1/4″ piece for the background!
I wanted to show off these diagonal stripes, so my white panel on top is 3-1/4″ wide x 4-1/2″ tall. You can still get 4 of them from a single sheet of cardstock, and the bonus is that you’re going to gain 2″ strips from the side and bottom.
The daisy was stamped twice without inking up between stamping in a technique called generational stamping. I wasn’t sure this would work with a photopolymer stamp set, but the good old huffing on it worked just as well as on our red rubber stamps! Yay! The layers are held together with a glue dot. The stamens are stamped in Soft Suede and punched out with a 1/2″ Circle punch, attached with a glue dot, and the whole assembly is popped on with a Stampin’ Dimensional.
The sentiment has been punched out with the Classic Label punch and popped up on two of the new Mini Dimensionals. I also added a Rhinestone just because it’s so sweet!
HINT: When you’re punching out these daisies, use the regular Whisper White cardstock. We tried some thick Whisper White cardstock in class last week and just about broke our fingers. Fortunately, there weren’t any injuries. Also, be sure to stamp your paper so the punch can just slide in there and do its job. By that, I mean stamp with the daisy petals lined up in the direction the punch needs them to be.
What do you think of my doodling on the edges? It was fun for me, and I wanted something as fun as a stitched edge, but I don’t have a stitched rectangle this size. I used Wild Wasabi to get a bit deeper green in the doodling.
Yep! I filled the card organizer a little bit. Three birthday cards are in today’s mail. One thinking of you is being sent to a fiance left behind as her sweetheart is deployed for the third time in four years. Three thinking of you cards is traveling to Hospice of South Texas along with three of last week’s sweet little “For The Birds” cards. All of that and I still have 12 cards left to send this month!
As I was making the top panel I realized that even without the daisies this would make a great card for a workshop! I could demonstrate the Daisy Bundle, and then the easier version of the card would be the one we make as a group. It’s one of those easy cards that I tell people, “If you can operate a Post-It Note, you can make this card!”

If you’re on Pinterest, you have seen this Daisy as a tutu, the skirt of a dress, folded in half to form a cone flower, and I’m pretty sure it would made a great turkey feather display. I was thinking that the pattern in the stamp really looked like feathers!
