Hues of Happiness Coming May 3rd

Can you ever really have enough flower stamps? I think not!

This is an interesting bundle coming in the new Annual Catalog next week. It’s actually a Suite, called Hues of Happiness. The stamp set (photopolymer) and die bundle is enough on its own, but wait till you see the Designer Series Paper and gems that come with it!

In this Suite, the dies cut out the flowers from the DSP. You like that slightly rolled edge from die-cutting? You get all that without having to do any coloring at all. And wait till you see the back side of the DSP!

I made a clean and simple card here, almost. I just had to die cut the Spiral Notebook edge! There are two different dies for cutting the edge. The other one is a rectangular notebook style, and I’ll be using that one next week.

Coloring the images doesn’t have to all be with alcohol markers. I used a Crushed Curry Stampin’ Write Marker on the yellow card. The pinks, however, are all alcohol markers called Stampin’ Blends.

What’s the difference? Well, technically I needed to have used a permanent ink to stamp the yellow flowers to avoid a water based ink catastrophe. However, I was careful and used the Gray Granite ink pad and let it dry before coloring the Crushed Curry edges. Water based ink and water based markers usually smear but I was careful not to touch the two together.

The pinks were fine. I stamped with the Gray Granite ink pad, and then colored with alcohol, Stampin’ Blends.

NOTE: I used high contrast coloring to make my point. The usual method is to use the Stampin’ Blend pairs, one light and one dark, to create shading.

Happiness Abounds is one of those stamp sets that you need for the sentiments alone, too.
