Beauty of Friendship Saves Time & Money This Season

In the Series of Saving Time and Money by Avoiding Coloring, I’m featuring Beauty of Friendship today. The first card here is one that uses an embossed layer, a piece of Designer Series Paper, and the stamped focal piece.

DistINKtive Stamp Sets are simply inked and stamped directly to paper. There are no shading tools or techniques needed here, but I have done some Generational Stamping. Remember this technique? This is when you stamp the trunks twice without inking up again in between. This gives you the allusion of depth.

Take a look at the DistINKtive stamps below. The tree in Beauty of Friendship has two possible stamps for the leaves: one is more solid and one is more leaves spread out. While both of them are distINKtive, I chose to use just the leaves spread out. Ink to paper. Quick and Easy.

Beauty of Friendship includes a tiny stamp of “splatter” and you know how I love adding that! This one is small enough to add some fallen leaves on the ground. I inked and stamped and continued stamping as well as falling down the paper to decrease the height of the leaf piles. In the card below, I also added some red leaves to the tree.

If you have more time, and want to embellish the card further, you can add a zig-zag of ribbon under the lower left corner. Or, because I chose to skew the panel to the right of the card, there’s room to have tied a ribbon bow around the orange and DSP layers prior to attaching to the card base.

I used the Deckled Rectangle dies for cutting my panel. I like the edge a lot! As you can see, though, even if you don’t have these dies, you can still get 8 pieces from a single sheet of card stock.

Because of the season we’re in right now, I chose to make 8 of these cards. Even with that many, I was crafting for less than an hour! Use distINKtive stamps to avoid coloring and still get beautiful cards for your weekly Happy Mail.

In my next post, I’m going to show this stamp set used for making Note Cards. Saving additional time and expense, Note Cards & Envelopes come 20 in a package, White or Vanilla.

    1. EXACTLY what I was going for! This is a “year round” stamp set, so I’m thrilled it’s still available at Stampin’ Up!
